With the advent of the Bessa R4 series, Voigtlander, like Leica, now have a choice of 3 viewfinder magnifications. The manual Bessa R4M is only available in the Classic Black gloss finish, and is equipped with a 0.52x magnification [even wider than Leica's 0.58 model], allowing it to have framelines for 21 and 25mm lenses. The framelines are again manually selectable, with the five frames arranged as: 21/35mm, 28mm, 25/50mm covering focal lengths up to a standard lens, making it the ideal companion to a high magnification R3 body, used with longer focal length lenses. The body design, handling, film transport and metering are identical to the R2M and R3, offering metered manual with (unmetered) mechanical backup in the event of battery failure. Again, the Bessa R4A is equipped with VM Mount, accepting M-Mount lenses from 12 to 135mm (with optical finders needed where framelines are not available) |
